THE GREAT DICTATOR

During a battle of World War I, a Jewish Barber is fighting for the Central Powers in the army of the nation of Tomainia. In this fight, our protagonist helps the Commander Schultz but when they are flying on Schultz's airplane, it crashes. They both survive, but the Barber suffers from memory loss. Then, they discover that Tomainia has lost the war.

Years later, Adenoid Hynkel is the dictator of Tomainia and he has started to persecute Jews. The barber returns to his barbershop in the Jewish ghetto unaware of Hynkel's rise to power. There, the Barber meets Hannah, his beautiful neighbour. When Schultz discovers the Barber, he returns him the favour by ordering the storm troopers to take no action against them.

Hynkel plans to invade Osterlich but when Schultz opposes, he put him in a concentration camp. Later, the Commander meets the Barber but they are captured on the roof.

Hynkel invites Benzino Napaloni, dictator of Bacteria, to his country. But Hynkel's plan become a disaster. After that, the Barber and Schultz escape from the camp wearing Tomainian uniforms. Then, the Barber is mistaken for Hynkel and the last is arrested. In this moment, the Barber assumes Hynkel's identity and he tells a long speech about peace, brotherhood and freedom. He wants a better world.

             

ANGELA'S ASHES

The film called "Angela's ashes tells us the story of a poor family who lives in Ireland. The main character is a little boy called Frank McCourt. His father is a drunk man who spends the family's money in bars. The family don't have a good life because of it and some of the sons die because of its low quality of life. The father goes to England to work, but he doesn't bring the money to home. Franks starts to work with carbon, but when he feel ill, he leaves it. Later, the dad leaves his family. In that moment, Frank starts to work as a fax deliverer. He meets a girl called Theresa and they have sex. Later, Frank finds out that she is ill and then she dies.  At that time, Frank is living in his uncle's house. One day, his mother discovers that he is there an she visits him. Finally, Frank decides to go to America to start a new life.

THE NAME OF THE ROSE

The story happens in Northern Italy, during the 14th century. A Franciscan monk called William of Baskerville and his novice Adso of Melk arrive at an abbey where a mysterious death has occurred. They investigate the death and they arrive to the conclusion that the dead has committed suicide. After that, other mysterious deaths happen. William and Adso meet Salvatore a strange man that seems to be the guilty of the deaths. Adso also meets a girl, they have sex and he falls in love with her. During the investigation, the two protagonists discover a hidden library in the tower that contains forbidden books. One of these books is the Aristotle's Second Book of Poetics. All the people that have read the book had died. Then, the Inquisition arrives to condemn the offenders. The Inquisition blames Salvatore and the girl because they think that they are in league with Satan. After the judgement, William and Adso go to the hidden library to find the forbidden book. There they find the Venerable Jorge who has poisoned the pages to stop the spread of what he considers dangerous ideas. Then starts a fire in the tower and they achieve to leave, but Jorge dies burned. Meanwhile, Salvatore and Remigio have been burned at the stake but the girl escapes  from the fire. Later, William and Adso leave the abbey and the novice will always remember the girl who was the only love of his life.

           

DEAD POETS SOCIETY

"Dead poets society" is a film about the students of a classic American school. Mr Keating is the poetry teacher that has a special behaviour in their lessons. In the first lesson they rip put the introduction of the text book. The students discover the past of Mr Keating. He was in the Dead Poets Society. They decide to create the same group and they meet every weekend in a cave to read poetry. One of the members fall in love with a girl and he writes her poetry. Another of the members is aimed at theatre classes but her father doesn't want him to. His father wants him to study medicine. His son disobeys and acts in a play. When the son arrives home his father tells him off and he tells him that he will go to a military school to  study medicine. At night, the son decides to commit suicide and they blame Mr Keating. The professor has to leave the school.

TITANIC

The film “Titanic” tells us the love store between Jack, a poor artist, and Rose, a high-class lady. This story happens in Titanic where Jack gets a third-class passage. Rose is engaged to a rich man called Hockley but she doesn’t love him. Jack and Rose meet for the first time when she is going to commit suicide jumping off the ship. When she is about to fall, Jack saves her. In that moment starts the relationship between them. They spend a lot of time together; they go to a third-class party and he paints a picture of her naked wearing a diamond. One night, Titanic hits an iceberg and it starts to sink. There aren’t enough boats and all the people are very frightened. Rose and Jack falls into the sea when the ship is sinking. The water is extremely cold and Jack dies because of the freezing water. Rose is saved by a boat with passengers.

LOVE ACTUALLY

A few weeks ago we saw a movie called "Love actually" in the practical English class, and now I'm going to tell us what is the film about.

LOVE ACTUALLY

"Love actually" is a film about different stories of love.

● Billy Mack and Joe: they are a famous rock singer and her manager. Billy's new single about Christmas becomes a success and after that Billy recognises that Joe is the lover of his life.

● Juliet, Peter and Mark: Juliet and Peter get married and Mark is Peter's best friend. Actually, Mark loves Juliet and when she discovers that, he confess his love using cards.

● Jamie and Aurélia: He is an English man who goes to live in his French cottage and she is his Portuguese housekeeper. They fall in love in they learn each other's language. Finally, they get married.

● Harry, Karen and Mia: Harry and Karen are married and Mia is Harry's new secretary. He buys a necklace for Mia and Karen discovers it. She thinks that it is for her but she discovers the truth. Finally, he admits his foolishness.

● David and Natalie: He's the Prime Minister and Natalie is a member of the household staff. He moves her to another job and later he recognises his love for her and goes to her house to meet her. Finally they go to the school's nativity play.

● Sam and Joanna: They are two children. Sam has fallen in love with her, but she is from America and she has to return to it. He decides to participate in a concert with her and he follows her to the airport. Here, she kisses him on the cheek.

● John and Judy: they appear in porn films and after a few time they start a relationship.

● Colin and the American girls: Colin is an English boy with no luck with girls. Then, he decides to go to America. Here, he meets three gorgeous women and they spend the night together in their house.

● Sarah and Karl: She has been in love with him for a long time but she didn't dare to tell him. In a party they dance together and spend the night in her house. That is interrupted by Sarah's mentally ill brother calls. Here the relationship ends.
